News update -- 11 February 2005 bulletin

News from IseSomo--email sent 21 January 2005

To the committee members of BFA

Brothers and sisters in the Lord Jesus Christ

For us we did not spent a very good christmas time because of the war at Kanyabayonga, we had many displaced people with us. Anyway we thank God for his protection.

Brothers and sisters, we are still very grateful for the last donations we received from you. It was an amazing thing for many people in here and particularly the parents of students.

Ngwati Primary School in Butembo
Pygmy children in school
Orphaned pygmy being cared for within the Ngwati Primary school buildings (they sleep there, eat there) and are looked after by a nurse from the Anglican Health Centre whom we have helped on a few occasions in the past and will continue to do so with BFA funds.

I wont to let you know that they have already started to work with that money. e.g.

  1. At Malera primary school, they covered the roof of classrooms and put desks and blackboards
  2. At Malera church, they bought the land around the church.
  3. At Ngwati primary school, they are building the new latrines there.
  4. At Makerere primary school, they have already 2 new classrooms
  5. At Makerere secondary school, they bought stones and iron sheets and they are making brics.

I have not yet been to Lubero to see what they are doing now.

I wont also to let you know that since the 8th to the 18th this month, Kanamungoya, Bwanamuzuri and me, we have been visiting other parishes around Butembo ( Mabuku, Maboya Kyambogo, Kalivuli, Kilau and Mumole ) in the goal of encouraging christians in faith. Through that occasion we visited schools and hospitals in there. It is realy a great piety to see the conditions in which children are studying and patients are sleeping in the hospitals.

e.g.

  1. At Kalivuli primary school, 3 classrooms are covered by iron sheets and 3 others are not covered because parents do not have possibilities. When it rains, pupils have to go back their homes. The blackboards are big for a half metre square. There are 40 orphans among the students who have no father and mother. Students are seating on pieces of stones as desks.
  2. At Kalivuli secondary school, the 3 classrooms are built by mud and grass.
  3. At Mabuku and Kilau hospitals, patients are sleeping on banana lives because there is no mattress. Ladies with new babies in the maternity are sharing one bed.

There are also many other stories to tell.

Finally I wont to thank you again for the money you have already raised for the work of doing evangelism in our schools. we have already started in Butembo diocese and we trained 33 school chaplains and 32 headmasters in 6 days. Baliesima is teaching about HIV and i am teaching about the gospel and the holy life. We have planed to work in the following places God willing and if money will be enough: Butembo, Beni, Bunia, Aru, Boga, Bukavu, Goma , Kindu, Kisangani, Lubumbashi, Mbujimayi, Kinshasa and Congo Brazzaville. So, please continue to pray for us. We are ready to continue when we will receive the money from you.

Many thanks and God bless you along this new year.

Pastor ISESOMO.
