Brass For AfricaIsesomo writes (23 February 2008):
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ
We praise our Lord Jesus Christ for our continual link in Him and for your generosity for the work of the gospel in our country of DRC.We thank you for your spiritual and financial support and our prayer for you is that may also continue to bless you abondently day by day.
Last week i was in Bunia which 250 km in the north from where i live, we went with my collegue Baliesima to do seminars for christians and students at the anglican theological college training them in how to grow in Christ, doing mission work and also how to fight HIV/ Aids;
We wanted also have another seminar for all pastors in Boga diocese but we didn't because some of them did not arrive because of the war in their area, so we decided to do that seminar later in april God willing.
We are also planing to go arround all military camps in North -Kivu province for evangelism among them and teach them about HIV/Aids in april and may. There are about 33600 militaries to whom we want to bring the gospel but we are still have a financial problem.Some christian friends in Canada have promised to help us with $3000 but our budget is for US$4950; We need your prayers again.
Pastor Isesomo;
Pastor Muhindo Isesomo is a link missionary of Springwood Winmalee Anglican Churches.
Since 1996 the eastern DR Congo, particularly North Kivu, Sud Kivu and Ituri provinces have been the scene of all the evils: killings, sexual violence against women and girls coupled with HIV infection and trauma, looting of natural resources and private properties by armed people from within and outside the country…
The recent fighting in Rutshuru and Masisi territories (North Kivu Province) opposing the Government Army and the militias supporting the former General Laurant Nkunda, has caused deaths of numerous civilians whose the statistics are not known yet. However the UN Observation Mission in Congo (MONUC) has reported having discovered 3 common graves full of people killed and berried by Nkunda's people at Rubare village in Ruthsuru territory. Three months back other common graves were discovered at Kitsanga in Masisi territory. The UN Mission in Congo (MONUC) has reported the fleeing of more than 700,000 people due to this recent fighting.
Ven Isesomo preaching the Gospel while Baliesima is trying to make sure that good distribution arrangements are put in place.In October 2007, with a financial support from OJC (Germany), ORAF and friends from Wollongong, Springwood and Winmalee Anglican parishes in Australia, the Province of the Anglican Church of Congo through her Health and Evangelism departments was able to assist 1493 households or almost 7465 people with food and non food items (rice, beans and gericans) in Rutshuru/ Kiwanja. This physical assistance was coupled with spiritual and psychological support in order to restore hope among the IDPS. Two days after the delivery of the assistance, new fighting irrupted in Ruthsuru, causing the displacement of 6530 households, and this has worsened the humanitarian situation of the IDPS in Rutshuru. 340 cases of malnutrition have been reported among the IDPS in Rutshuru. On 5th November, 2 of the newly arrived IDPS were shot died by the police in Kiwanja as they were demonstrating for lacking any kind of humanitarian assistance. If nothing is done, there is risk for a disaster. We are so thankful for our brothers and sisters in overseas and the local Churches in Kiwanja and other humanitarian organisations for their help. However, there is need for more assistance as far as saving lives is concerned.
