Langham Preaching seminars in Congo — 27 Oct 2006 update

From 11-16 September 2006, Langham Preaching, an arm of Langham Partnership International, ran the second series of preaching seminars in Congo.

Langham Preaching seeks to encourage local and national movements for biblical preaching in countries around the world, particular in majority world countries like Congo where many pastors have not had the opportunity for a good Bible College education.

Pastor Muhindo Isesomo, Anglican coordinator of evanglism in the Democratic Republic of Congo writes:

"Greetings to each one of you from myself and all participants in the last seminar.

Muhindo Isesomo

"Dear brothers and sisters, we, congolese pastors, are very grateful to God and to you for your financial and human assistance to us in the work of the spreading of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in our country of Congo.

"Here is a short report from our last seminar.

  1. The venue:
The conference took place at Goma which is one the cities in the Estern of the DRC and very close to Rwanda; the conference was held in a Roman catholic centre called Procure-Goma.
  2. Participants:
They were selected from different churches and regions in the country. There were in total 46 people coming from 6 different church denominations. There were also 4 observers from Goma. Anyway we are very sorry for our brothers from Katanga who did not arrive again for the second time because they missed the flight. We are now negotiating with the flight agency for the reimbursement of the money.
  3. Trainers:
We are very grateful for our trainer Gordon Woolard from USA , he is a gifted man in the ministry of teaching and he works all the day without being tired. May God continue to use him for His glory.
As we had two levels at once, some of us did also helped him in level one while he was teaching in level two.
  4. Appreciation
After reading the evaluation papers of the seminar, we see that the seminar went very well in general but the time was short because some of the delegates did not visit the city of Goma
  5. Needs
    1. All participants would like to complete their training until level 3
    2. There is a need of being equipped also in documentation (books)
    3. After level 3 we would like form teams of trainers who will be training other people in different regions and churches.
    4. If LPI will agree, we plan to have the next conference from the 10th to 15th September2007 in Kinshasa if possible.

"Thank you very much for your assistance in all.

"Pastor Isesomo
Mission coordinator in DR CONGO"
