News update — 9 May 2006
Visitors to Australia
Plans are well advanced to bring to Australia three Congolese friends this year:
- Our old friend Ise-somo — probably in November/December (dates to be confirmed)
- Baliesima — the Provincial Coordinator of Medical Services for the Anglican Church in DRC
- Grodya — formerly the head of dental services in Butembo, now gaining experience in Uganda .
Baliesima and Grodya will attend the International Christian Medical and Dental Congress in Darling Harbour from July 11-16 — they will be in Australia for a little over a month.
- Please pray for their visas to be approved
Supporting pastors in DRC
- On Friday 5 May we sent off the 6 month installment of $7800 for the 'Support a Pastor' Scheme.
- We received recently a $3000 anonymous donation for supporting 10 pastors @ $50 per month for the next 6 months.
- Please pray for continued funding so that we can support the 34 pastors in November.
Personal news
- Ise-somo's daughter Kahindo is to be married on 25th of May in Butembo, after the February wedding had to postponed due to a family tragedy on the grooms side. Ise also had the sadness of his sister in law's death recently.
- Please pray for a happy encouraging time for the families
Political news
- DRC's first free elections in 40 years are now scheduled for 30 July 2006.
- Please pray for the country as it tries to pull itself out of civil war and for a fight against corruption in the leaders of the country.
