Supporting the church in Congo
Current projects:
Ise-somo--SWAC link missionary
In December 2010, Muhindo Ise-Somo will be consecrated as Bishop of the Diocese of North Kivu in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Until then he has served as the
National coordinator for Evangelism, Mission, Peace and Reconciliation of the Anglican Church in the DR Congo
and Congo-Brazzaville.
Our support enables him to travel proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ and training local Christians for evangelism and discipleship.

Past projects:
Assisting education, medical, dental, scholarships
- Education is a high priority for the country, with poor levels of literacy especially amongst women. To make matters worse, many schools have been destroyed by militiamen and soldiers. Both sides of the conflict have used school desks for firewood. Schools need to be rebuilt and resupplied with books, pens, blackboards etc.

Baliesema is the
Medical Supervisor
for the Anglican Church
in the DR Congo
- Medical & Dental work similarly needs to be restarted and resupplied. Drugs and equipment needs to be transported to areas that are difficult to get to by road. The Anglican Church's centre for medical training was caught in the middle of severe inter-tribal violence, and needs help to restart its training program for Congolese nurses.
- Scholarships to help the Congolese Church & people acquire the skills to become self-sufficient. Suggested areas for scholarships are: medicine, management, accountancy and development.
- Mobile Schools for Evangelism led by Rev Stephan Makata in southern DR Congo, where trainers travelled to rural towns and conducted live-in courses for a month. The courses included: Basic bible knowledge
and Evangelism methods.
